Water Commissioners – May 19 2016 – meeting minutes

The monthly meeting of the Board of Water Commissioners was held at Freedom Hall at 6:00 p.m. Chairman Barnicle and Commissioner Campbell were present, as was Superintendent Chris Wiseman. Commissioner Mastro was not in attendance.

Also in attendance was Jeff Bellino from GHD Engineering, Andrew Casey from GreenSeal Environmental and Zak Farkes from Borrego.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

The 04/20/16 and 05/06/16 minutes were approved and the warrants were signed.

Mr. Wiseman reviewed the water quality testing results for the month of April. All tests, including nitrates, were within normal limits and MTBE testing will be conducted in June.

There was 1 replacement service and 2 repairs completed in April. We received a subrogation letter regarding the General insurance claim filed earlier this year for property damage due to a water leak and have transferred all information to our insurance claim agent.

Mr. Wiseman informed the board that the kick-off meeting for the Hazard Mitigation Grant was held with representatives from MEMA, GZA and RA Mitchell in attendance. The project will start in the next 30 days and will be completed in the next fiscal year.

The board decided to address the sanitation survey and chemical treatment improvements after the upcoming annual meeting.

Mr. Wiseman has obtained bids to install a 11KW auto-start generator at the Santuit Tank. Chairman Barnicle will contact a vendor for an additional quote and the board will review and make a recommendation at the next meeting.

The board executed an agreement for services for the USDA grant application with GHD and copies were returned to the Engineer.

Jeff Bellino of GHD notified the board that the West St. Tank project was on schedule and that the tank would be assembled on Friday, May 20TH and that the USDA Application had been accepted and was posted for public comment within 30 days.

Andrew Casey and Zak Frakes reviewed and discussed the Solar PV proposal.

The commissioners agreed to further discuss the rate survey information at the June meeting and reviewed and assigned the articles to be read at the upcoming annual district meeting on May 25th.

The next monthly meeting of the Board of Water Commissioners will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Freedom Hall.
